My name is Kelly Livett and I am a 26 year old coastal resident of Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. My interests include, painting, photography, web design, graphic design, and trolling the internet for inspiration. I own my own domain and contract yearly web hosting from netrospect.
I am self taught in web design and graphic design matters, over the last 8 years having taught myself XHTML, Area's of PHP, CSS, and elements of Javascript. I also taught myself how to use certain web design tools like Adobe Photoshop which is the most popular graphic design software world wide. I taught myself Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft frontpage. Both of which speed up the monotony of certain elements of designing a fully functional site. I do however prefer the thrill of writing and design with nothing more then notepad and my brain. I'm a determined and thorough designer spending hours on eradicating security and coding bugs.
I am also competent working and designing around certain CMS (Content Management Systems) Like Joomla, Wordpress and CMsimple. I am also willing to look into how to design in other CMS as most use CSS for the majority of design, I am always willing to learn and further my knowledge base, and being a quick study in matters of web languages I'm confident that I could learn the nessacary elements of another CMS in quick and efficient timing.
My design style in my own words is simple, bold and aesthically pleasing. I believe in perfecting the look of an entire site and tying in colours and layout so that every single page pops and appeals to the eye. I don't like large and gawdy looking sites with many bright and clashing colours that are hard to navigate or read. I believe the first and foremost purpose of a site is to relay information in a fast and easily read manner and tailor my designs to suit that. I do however prefer unusal layouts, splashes of colour and unique designs so that any page I work on stands out above and beyond the rest.
As much as my work is based on facts, research and knowledge of colour, code, and imagery there is a very strong element of inspiration, blind luck, experimenting and enjoying and investigating different colours and textures. Much like all other artists I may not know where a site is going when I start it but I know that it’s not finished until it truly feels finished, until I can look at it and nothing stares back or nags at me. I could be called a perfectionist, but I truly believe that a site 98% done is still an unfinished site.
I believe strongly that when working on displaying someone else’s artwork that the process needs to be close, steady communication whether through e-mail, phone or face to face, I’ve seen that what is being created is a part of me, and it is a part of the artist commissioning me. It is a collaborative work of art that we are creating together and can not stand alone without my skills or the clients.
I an happy and more then willing to help my clients navigate the learning and implementing of using a CMS, sitting with you and teaching you what you need to know, re-enforcing it and being there as support at 8pm at night when you just want to accomplish something but have racked your brains and are unable to achieve it. I am also entirely capable of running your site for a small monthly fee.
